Ketamine for Mood Disorders

In patients who have suffered with depression and other mood disorders for years, this treatment can be revolutionary.

Many patients have tried SSRIs, SNRIs, mood stabilizers, and other meds, but have failed to reach acceptable levels of symptom resolution.  Ketamine has been researched in these refractory patients and shown to have significant reduction in this cohort of patients.

Studies have shown 7 out of 10 patients can benefit from their severe depression symptoms with Ketamine Treatment.  The symptom relief occurs within hours of the first treatment.  The duration of relief, however, is short lived unless serial treatments are completed over a 2 week period.  Typically 6 treatments are done in this time period.  After the initial infusions, a booster treatment is then usually necessary 6-8 weeks later, and then every 6 months or so.  Treatments require an intravenous infusion of Ketamine over 40 minutes.
